Suggestion to Prime Minister Modi - 01

Shri Narendra Modi
Prime Minister
Government of India
North Block
New Delhi                                                                    July  15,  2019

Dear Sir
                                      NDA 2 - Suggestion No  01

I have a number of suggestions to make to you purely from an ordinary citizen’s perspective,  but I thought in your busy schedule it would be difficult for you to spend too much time on a long  communication.

Hence,  I will be sending you just one suggestion every fortnight for your consideration and possible action.

My first suggestion in this series is :

a)   Instruct all Government Departments, PSUs and all organisers of Functions (including BJP functions/meetings)  where you are invited to speak / inaugurate that no floral bouquet or garland should be given to you or to anyone else on the dais.

b)   As you very well know,  these floral gifts are simply taken by you and then handed over to your staff who either take it home or discard it. Even if they take it home, it gets discarded after a few days.

c)   As such,  this a huge expense that is needlessly incurred  and doesn’t add any value – in fact it reduces value of the tree from which these flowers have been plucked.

d)  Flowers / garlands, bouquets are, in fact,  “end-of-life”  gifts because they spell the end of life for the flowers.

e) Flowers look best where they belong – on the trees where they have sprouted and it is only proper that we leave them there.

f)  Instead,  if the organisers are very keen to give something,  let them give saplings or plants  because these are “beginning-of-life” gifts  and will lead to greening of the country.

Kind regards.
